Summary Barth and Constance are spending the weekend in a secluded hotel on an little island, a present from their children to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Surprisingly they find that Juge Delcourt and Procureur Quiring are also staying with their partners. When the owner of the hotel, Victor Ziegler abandons the seductive place in the middle of the night leaving a note, Barth suspects that something is not right and convinces Constance that a crime has been committed.
