Run by the Monkeys

Summary The boyfriend of one of Taylor's informants is washed ashore Burrard Inlet, dead, after what looks to be a drug deal gone bad. However, the informant says that a dirty cop is involved, which Taylor has no reason to doubt. Kosmo suspects she knows who the cop is, which she has yet to divulge. She asks Kurtz to stay on this "cop chasing" case, which Kurtz cautions. Leary, Shannon and Williams investigate a gas station robbery, which resulted in the death of the clerk. There have been a string of gas station robberies, this one being the first involving a death. Viewing the surveillance video, Williams does recognize the still unknown perpetrators as those that have committed the other robberies. Shannon doesn't appreciate William's involvement as he thinks she's muscling in on their territory. Shannon is correct in that Williams lets Kurtz know that she'd like to be considered for promotion to Homicide. In the ongoing investigation of the Moorehouse house fire, Moorehouse's former in-laws, Richard and Barbara Westerbrook, ask Da Vinci to reopen the investigation in their daughter's death. Apparently they have new information from a witness about the case. And as they dig deeper into the current investigation, red flags are raised about the suspicious nature of the latest fire. Elsewhere, Councillor Jack Pierce has been seen entering a known drug house where prostitutes work. This information does not bode well for Da Vinci, since Pierce is the only political ally on Council working for prostitutes' rights and a Red Light Zone, an issue near to Da Vinci's heart.
