Summary Vledder is deeply shocked when his present girlfriend, newspaper reporter Renee Goes, is found murdered in a parking lot. It gets worse as the investigation suggests she was sleeping around with the growing lists of potential suspects, some of whom were implicated in a drug network she intended to report to him. Vledder can't control his doubly-motivated hostility to his rivals-suspects, so he has to be suspended. A suspect drug-pusher escapes from the precinct after pointing at a a rival gang, only to be found presumably pushed down from a high balcony.
