But he soon learns that every lie has short legs. The Boskis go for a romantic dinner for just the two of them. They return late enough that the boys are already asleep. As Ludwik breaks the key from the front door in the lock, he and Natalia start to break into the house. The children, following the advice of the head of the family not to open the door to strangers, call the police.
