Summary Dwayne's father, Lawrence Nelson, is running for city council. Dwayne is really proud of his father ... until one afternoon at campaign headquarters, he accidentally overhears him firing one of his campaign workers (Ted, a longtime friend of the family) and telling him to pack his stuff up and get out, because "we don't need that kind of stuff in our campaign." Dwayne's pride turns to shame and he goes to Mama Thomas to sort out his problems, but of it turns out Dwayne only knows part of the story - Ted was fired for theft of campaign funds.
