Summary Billie Jo is buoyed by the news that Sydney Sparks, the talent agent that approached her and Steve following their radio talent show win, still wants to represent her with or without Steve. He got her an audition at the Flamingo Room in Springdale. Kate isn't too sure that she wants Billie Jo to pursue this career, but with Billie Jo being twenty-one and of age, there's no way she can stop her. Following the audition, Billie Jo is certain she got the job. Kate, however, isn't so sure her daughter's right as they told her "don't call us, we'll call you". When Kate receives the news for Billie Jo that she didn't get the job - only because she didn't have a big enough name to draw in customers - Kate has a change of heart about Billie Jo and this job. With help from Uncle Joe and Sam, Kate thinks she knows a way for Mr. Austin, the Flamingo Room's manager, to change his mind. Regardless, Billie Jo, based on an off the cuff comment by Uncle Joe, may kibosh her own chances of show business success by her warped sense of what it means to be a star.
