S1.E2 ∙ The Band Played On

Misha, Dolton, Jaxon, Hamlet, and David are young aspiring actors who move to Hollywood to follow their dream, but wind up testing their fate with consequences beyond their wildest imagination. Each of the actors have been hand picked by 'The Master'. A dark, mysterious teacher who promises to teach them the ultimate secret to success. Without knowing it, the young faithful dreamers are set to the test of their lives. They are hypnotized, mentally and physically abused and brainwashed as The Master slowly steals away any human instinct and empathy from them and applies a strange animal behavior instead. He calls it his unique acting technique. But in spite of all their hopes, dreams and aspirations The Master is never planning on giving them the secret to success. He has his own dark agenda. He is the hungry wolf in the jungle waiting for the right moment to prey on little girls. Just like the fairy tale of 'Little Red Riding Hood'.

Lorenzo, a Cuban policeman specializing in grave robberies is sent to Havana to investigate the death of a Havana-born German national, Hermann (or German in Spanish) found in a famous grave. Lorenzo recounts his findings to the police chief (Major Anancio) as he investigates Dora, an elevator operator and Herrmann's landlady, Aguila and Silvia (who work for Cultural Affairs), Chrissy (a British-born Socialist Internationalist lover), Xiomara (Hermann's mother and a local drag queen as well), a dwarf, and a false Guatemalan who had raped Chrissy during her internationalist "love/sex campaign" in Guatemala. These are the main, but not the only characters, one must absolutely follow to make sense of the plot.

Eduard Lebeda (Lubomír Lipský) works at the dispatch department of a costume jewelery factory, but first and foremost, he is an enthusiastic member of the voluntary auxiliary police guards. In the evening, as usual, he heads for the streets of the little town to direct the traffic with his police control disk. Before he leaves, he confiscates his small son's matches. The matches have a label with two tigers on it. In front of the self-service store, two men load cases onto a lorry with the German trademark Garant. Lebeda fails to notice their nervousness and helps them with their work. He lends the matches to the driver. The roaring of a departing motorbike diverts his attention and the lorry drives off. The next day a rumor spreads about a robbery in the self-service store and Lebeda realizes that he has been an accomplice.
