One of the train passengers loses her jacket and with it her passport, using which she wanted to go abroad on tour. Two stowaways travelling to Leningrad to study pretend to be police officers and start an "investigation".

Somewhere Confidential follows Detective Guthrie Hayward on a circuitous bender that leads him through the dregs of society and his only friends are his hop-head siblings and his dingo accountant.
