S1.E5 ∙ A Real Partnership

La Marquise de Pompadour desires the best tenor in France for her opera company, and after an extensive search in the provinces, Chapelou is selected and forced to leave his bride-of-an-hour to go to Paris. Alfer seeing the handsome tenor, the Marquise decides not to let his bride, Madeliane, join him in Paris. Graf de Latour, banished from the court for his bawdy song about La Pompadour, goes to the town where Chapelou has left his bride and sees an opportunity to get even. He takes Madeleine in hand and after exhaustive grooming and make-over he returns to court with her as his banishment has been lifted, and Chepelou, failing to recognize hie own wife, falls in love with her. He asks her to marry him but he must first return to Lonjumeau and get a divorce from his wife. Madelein beats him back to Lonjumeau.

The Kingdom of Three Lakes has been struck by an evil curse. The sorcery of magic beings has removed all fish from the local lakes, in order to punish the arrogant King Boleslav for having stolen the prophetic Fish Eye for his new wife, the haughty Queen Gabriela. And as it often happens, worst affected by the punishment of potentates are the common people, in this case those for whom fishing is the main livelihood. And so they start revolting. Meanwhile the thief and swindler Nevergive tries to worm his way into the favor of the royal family, claiming that he knows how to break the curse. He hopes to be helped by the magic wand which he's cunningly stolen from the magic beings, and thanks to it suddenly wields great power. But young fisherman Ludvik turns up in the kingdom, and there's hope that he will be the one to break the curse, save the kingdom and win the hand of Princess Lidunka.

In Hell, the devils have a quill that writes human sins into the Book of Sins and the devils go and pull the sinners down to Helll. One day, Boniface goes on Earth, Greasy the Tailor steals the quill from him. The Devils back in Hell think nobody is sinning and everything is all topsy-turvy. Boniface admits to Margaret that he is responsible for the whole mess. Together, they not only save the town of Pytlov from destruction, but Boniface learns what true love is.
