In its minimal and non-traditional plot, Shitcago follows a seemingly mundane day in the life of a young loner living in Chicago as he wanders around the city and encounters many idiosyncratic characters.

A mysterious power failure in a small mountain town coincides with the disappearance of one of its most eccentric young residents. Mystery piles upon mystery as his family and friends search for him, fail, and ultimately try to forget about him, an undertaking that results in many unexpected, and in some cases bizarre, effects on the town's already peculiar community.

A famous rock star dies in Toronto under suspicious circumstances. As his body is transported through the netherworld of the death industries, the deceased's questioning spirit speculates about the meaning of his life and the cause of his death.
