Summary Joe Croaker finds a loaf of bread and heads home to enjoy it, only to find that his route home is blocked by a river. Determined to get home, he decides to build a bridge across the river. After he is finished, he takes a nap. When he awakes, he notices McBroom crossing the bridge. In his anger, Joe goes to drive McBroom off the bridge, and they both end up falling off the bridge with their prized possessions.
