We learn in schools and on television that Brazil is the result of a Portuguese invasion and that, in our history, there is nothing virtuous, nothing good. Frank Martins is a tough-as-nails police officer - a man of the law - a detective. When a wealthy man rumored to be a narcotics dealer is killed in his home, Frank is assigned to solve the case. Things go from complicated to straight out complex as Frank's infidelity gets in the way of his solving of the crime.
