Summary Bramble has a dream in which he is able to fly. On waking, he presses Briar to teach him how to fly. Briar indulges his younger brother by fashioning for him a crude pair of wings, and off they go to drill. This plan predictably ends in major injury; however, the brothers find a drawing of a glider in Hunter Vick's cabin, and have another go-but this time, with Vick giving spirited chase.
