Summary When Logger Vick learns of an offer being made by some land developers, he agrees to raze the forest to the ground in exchange for a very tidy sum. The developers equip him with expensive heavy machinery; but the Briar Bear and Bramble Bear launch a campaign to sabotage Vick's efforts to destroy their woodland home. In the end, a debt-laden and dejected Vick happens upon a leaflet promoting a hunter's training course. He sees this prospect as the gateway to a new life.
