Summary A retelling of The Coat of a Thousand Furs. The kind vows he shall never remarry lest he find a woman who was just as beautiful as his late wife. He descends into madness and tries to marry his own daughter. To escape her fate she says that her father must create 3 dresses made from spun sunlight, moonlight and of the stars, as well as a coat of 1000 different furs, (some versions say these items should fit into a walnut though not this version) before she would agree thinking this impossible task would deter him. When he completes the coat and dresses she runs away to another kingdom where she is found by that kingdom's Prince while hunting. He takes pity and offers her a job in the palace kitchens. After some time he holds a series of balls to find a wife. The former princess attends wearing all the different gowns, running away each night after the ball. The Prince unable to find the mystery princess agrees to marry another. Fur coat throws her ring into the soup that she prepares for the Prince in order to reveal her identity to him. They marry and live happily ever after.
