Summary California teenage skateboarder Justin Harmon comes into possession of an ancient magical flute that gives him the power to command a fleet of mythical creatures and perform spectacular magic. The flute also awakens an evil Sorcerer from a 3,000-year-old spell, determined to regain the flute. The Sorcerer imprisons Justin and his best friend Eddie inside a video game. The Sorcerer frees Justin, but keeps Eddie prisoner. To secure Eddie's freedom, Justin will have to turn over the flute at the Emperor's hiding place - the lighthouse on the beach, where Eddie is now being held hostage. Justin seeks help from friend Rachel and his old nemesis, Anthony, a school bully turned ally. They storm the lighthouse and free Eddie. Justin and his friends set sail on and above the Pacific Ocean on sea serpent, sea horse and phoenix -- trailing the Sorcerer, determined to capture him and end his reign of terror once and for all. The first obstacle the Sorcerer places in their path is a shipload of medieval pirates that he raises from the ocean floor. Justin is washed ashore on Monster Island. The entire island seems to be a maze -- stone paths that twist and turn, leading to more ever-twisting and turning paths. Faces of men and beasts are etched in the stone walls of the maze -- and Justin senses that they were once alive. Justin must make his way through the maze and reunite with his friends before the beasts come alive again.
