Summary The cashier of a mining company has no luck in sports betting, but he meets a gentleman who is willing to lend him money at usurious interest. He begins to play big, experiences prosperity, even finds a pretty girlfriend, but soon becomes so much in debt that goons appear at his house. The gentleman makes him to steal the monthly wages of the miners to pay off his debt, and suggest him to flee abroad after they are halved.
