Summary 200 years ago, Dutch king Willem II ended the bloody, endless-seeming siege of the town Hughevliet by accepting a chess challenge from the rebellious Huguenot leader, Stadtholder (lord lieutenant) Schimmelpenninck. Local legend says he was nearly blown up by 100 barrels of gun powder under the church, but no proof was found, so history dismissed that. The town plans elaborate remembrance activities, including a school musical directed by teacher Frank, in which Ruben is to play the king. The municipal authorities planned reenacting the chess duel, but must hastily plan a grand version as the present king Willem Alexander suddenly announced he's coming to play his ancestral predecessor, against the mayor.
