Summary A poor peasant named Tonio has fallen for the rich girl Lea. Tonio would like to woo Lea but her discriminating father, Don Selmo, belittles Tonio and deems him unworthy to be his daughter's suitor. One day, Tonio sees a wounded rooster and tends to it instead of cooking it for supper. Convinced of Tonio's benevolence, the rooster transforms into a magical phoenix. It tells the kind-hearted peasant that he can obtain a pot of gold if he would only be patient enough to chase a ball of fire called San Telmo, which is believed to be the guardian of the pot of gold. Tonio patiently waits for the San Telmo with Epoy, Jewel and Rextor until he finds it and chases it for days. Will Tonio's perseverance pay off? Will he be able to catch the ball of fire, obtain the pot of gold and win the woman of his dreams?
