Summary Fantasio discovers a ship in the harbor. The ship comes from the polar circle and is guarded very strong. A man of the crew, who jumped overboard, asks them for help: he is very sick and only one person can help. Spirou and Fantasio take Addington to the Count of Champignac. The Count discovers the danger: Addington comes from a scientific base from the South Pole, where they play with dangerous viruses. Spirou, Fantasio and Spip leave to the South Pole to prevent a global catastrophe. When they arrive there, they find out that some gangster try to use the deadly viruses for their own purposes. The clever trio tries to screw up the plan.
