Summary Nottingham's villagers are stricken with a strange trance-like sleeping sickness from which they do not awake. A black-clad healer arrives soon after the affliction begins and demonstrates that he has a cure for malady - for which he charges five gold coins for each potion. Robin is troubled by this coincidence and discovers that the charlatan has created the epidemic by dumping a chemical into the town's water supply. He must trick the crook into revealing how he created the antidote before everyone in the county is afflicted.
