Summary The trio encounter a society where all who live there must be 'processed;' where by use of a transporter-like device, have negative human traits mentally and physically removed, creating a physical duplicate, a 'negative,' who is then cast out of their society, while the 'positives' live in relative luxury. Logan and REM have to deal with the 'positive' Jessica, who is clearly not the same person as before, and must attempt to reintegrate her and prevent themselves from being processed. Meanwhile, it turns out that unknown to the leader of the society, his own wife is a 'negative,' throwing into doubt the effectiveness of the procedure.
