Summary Nothing to Chance: Chronicles of 429 Bison Squadron Part of Canadian Week on WW2TV With Gregory Kopchuk In today's show we look at one of the Canadian Heavy Bomber Squadron's and their time in Europe. 429 "Bison" Squadron was formed in 4 Group on 7 Nov 1942. It was the RCAF's tenth Bomber Squadron formed overseas and was declared operational along with 428 Sqn on 24 Jan 1943. The Squadron's first operational mission (Gardening) was on 21/22 Jan 43 and first bombing mission was on 26/27 Jan 43 to Lorient. Bison's Squadron's last Operational mission was on 25 Apr 45 to Wangerooge. The Squadron flew Wellingtons, Halifaxes and Lancasters until the end of the war.
