S1.E2 ∙ Episode #1.2

Hwa-ja has been raising three daughters alone in Busan after her husband passed away. One day, the second daughter Hye-young comes back to Busan after having continuous setbacks in Seoul. While spending time with her mom, she accidently sees a letter written in Japanese, which triggers her curiosity. She starts to ask Hwa-ja about her past life and gets to know new stories of her mother that she had never heard of. Meanwhile, something inside Hwa-ja's heart where has been buried for decades also opens up.

After the mysterious suicide of their father, four very different brothers try to come to terms with their lives and moving on.

Penny (Monie Ellis) has an affair with a handsome ski instructor and eventually becomes pregnant, leading to complications.

As children, Clyde meets Miriam, and seem to fall in love, but when they get older, a misunderstanding prevents their marrying, and he instead takes Winifred, a social climber, resulting in a loveless union. Miriam has a mysterious second sight and can see the conniving Henry that is pursuing her, has deceived a woman terribly in the past, the woman being Winfred.

A poor community regularly awaits government rice subsidies. The people line up for hours to get their share of the rice, while those without money to pay for their meager portion must do all sots of things in order to get that rice on their tables.

Tension erupts when a couple shares their secluded hideaway with a visiting friend.
