He refused to show his good face to Jiang Rongshou who was the local villain and also his Shidaye. Cheng Fengtai was a patriotic businessman who was influential in Peiping. His proposal of helping defeat Japanese invaders damaged the interest of the chamber of commerce in Peiping a lot so the president of the chamber Zheng Yuanmu decided to make him a friend so the chamber could use Cheng's trade route to make more money.
