Summary 1942, just after the fall of Corregidor, a group of American POWs plan a desperate escape. One of their number gets away to alert the U.S. Military of the POWs location. The Kiwi is assigned to get them out. Going on the mission is a nurse volunteer to treat the sick and dying men. She has a chip on her shoulder and a secret reason why she volunteered. Along the way she saves the life of a Japanese Officer which wins her no friends on the Kiwi.
