Summary Hayley Wickenheiser is regarded as one of the best female hockey players in the world. The five-time Olympic medalist from Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, began her career as a professional athlete at age 15 when she was chosen for the Canadian Women's National Team. With the help from her uncompromising determination and her lethal slap shot, Wickenheiser led the team to six gold medals and one silver medal at the Women's World Hockey Championships. She earned a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and four Olympic gold medals in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 winter games. She made hockey history as the first female hockey player to get a point in a men's professional game with the Kirkkonummen Salamat of the Finnish second division in January 2003.
