Shania Twain

Summary Shania Twain was born Eileen Regina Edwards on August 28, 1965 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. When she was 4, her mother, Sharon divorced Shania's biological father and later married Jerry Twain. Shania, then Eileen, had to take care of her siblings and deal with her stepfather abuse her and Sharon. Shania had a very difficult childhood and lived in poverty in her early life. At age 3, she began singing and at age 10, Shania began to write her own songs. Her second album, The Woman in Me (1995) was a success and her third album, Come On Over (1997) was a huge success. Even though it seems like everything was great for Shania after she became famous, Shania's life was no walk in the park. Shania had a very rocky love life and her marriage with Mutt Lange, her producer, did not end well. Because Mutt had an affair, Shania and Mutt separated in 2008 and were officially divorced by 2010. After her divorce with Mutt, Shania became severely depressed and lost her voice because of Lyme Disease. Shania Twain paid a huge price for her fame. She wanted to be famous very much; so much, she even gave up her original name for it. Even though she already had lost so much: a childhood, a best friend, and her marriage, it looked like she may lose her voice as well and she wondered if she'd ever find love again.
