The desert lies at the foot of the Altai Mountains at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. In 1975, the Great Gobi Reserve was declared here, which became the fourth largest nature reserve in the world. It is the northernmost place in the world where you can meet camels, but also white leopards, gazelles and sheep.
