Part documentary, part fiction, the film takes place in Barentsburg, a Russian coal-mining town on a Norwegian Island located in the northernmost inhabited place in the world. Set in this isolated, as well as environmentally and economically devastated space, the film documents the stark reality of the miners, scientists, and children that live there, and contrasts their unusual existence with fictional interludes that they created with director. From non-fiction to fantasy, the weave of both narratives concludes with a series of resolutions centered on the themes of love, dreams and escapism.

True Otaku: The Documentary is a feature film by otaku, for otaku, about otaku. True Otaku is an intimate look at mid-Atlantic American fans of Japanese popular culture. The goal of the film is to explore, document, and celebrate the rich diversity of America's true otaku community.

With footage ranging from France to Italy to the U.K. to the U.S., 'Mirage' is an anthological, contemplative landscape feature in fifteen parts with a focus on the audiovisual experience of fusing naturalism & urbanism with the dream world.
