Orange-crested cockatoo Bijou gets an artificial beak Orange-crested cockatoo Bijou lost a large part of his beak in a fight with his partner. The poor bird cannot eat or climb properly. Jean-Marc Seitz traveled all the way from France to have Bijou treated by bird expert Gerd Britsch. The specialist resorted to an unusual treatment and gave the cockatoo an artificial beak. This can only be done under anesthesia and is therefore risky.
