Poland: Short Lives

Summary For over a dozen years, the Gajusz Foundation has been helping terminally ill children to survive in decent conditions, in too short a time they have left. For many years, the organization has been running home hospices, in which doctors and volunteers look after the patients. It also opened a stationary hospice. This unique place, called the Palace, is located next to a busy intersection. The old mesh surrounding the area did not give the beneficiaries of the Gajusz Foundation and their families a sense of intimacy and peace. It was therefore necessary not only to isolate the building from the hustle and bustle, but also to create a friendly place for the suffering children. This is a task undertaken by volunteers with the financial support of Kulczyk Foundation.
