A drama-documentary about the Swedish artist John Bauer (1882-1918) painter and illustrator. His work is concerned with landscape and mythology, but he also composed portraits.. We get to follow Bauer's artistic development from school caricature drawings to the last monumental painting. And the romantic meeting with Ester, his future wife.

The film accompanies 4 people over a period of two years and portrays their life at "Kölnberg" with ups and downs. One thing they all have in common: The dream of leading a fulfilled life, far away from "Kölnberg".

Struggling to survive in Europe since the age of nine, Zimbabwean OG seeks a balance in her life. Director Carina Molier -her long distance friend- follows her in her quest for reunification with her daughter. The film is about longing for security in an ever globalising world.
