Summary Marine biologist and professional diver, Monty Halls, turns his back on city life to become a 21st century beachcomber on the West Coast of Scotland. Monty's daily chores are complicated by the hottest and driest West Coast spring for many years. Keeping his vegetables and animals alive means constant trips into the village to get water. And he's having no luck at sea either - the mackerel aren't biting and he's still eating out of tins. But things look up after a chance meeting in the pub leads to a spectacular encounter with a pod of dolphins.
