Problem solved, almost. There is one unclaimed part of Antarctica called Marie Byrd Land that is experiencing rapid glacial melting and will likely be a mostly ice free island within a century. The United States has by far the largest presence in this region and, as it happens, is one of only two countries that have reserved the right to claim part of Antarctica under the current treaties.
