S1.E4 ∙ Part 4: The Age of the Composer

Go behind the curtains of the most unlikely kingdom on earth. This is China's Dwarves Empire, where little people stand tall. Or do they? This observational documentary chronicles the journeys of a few employees in their pursuit of happiness and explores the shades of modern-day morality.

Sean, Valeria, Odel and Asael are teenagers who are trapped in the stereotypes ordained for them by Israeli society. A major educational project allows them to show a play that is based on their personal lives and attempts to provide them a gateway and a stage. During the composition of the play, they find that both their homes and the educational project, however laden with good will and intentions, are not really able to look beyond the stereotypes themselves. This is the story of children who are trying to seize as many moments of grace as they can from a society whose members are unable to accept people who are different.

Why and How did a small Ontario town become home to an architectural masterpiece.

Near Luján (Province of Buenos Aires), the Rerum Novarum music band, composer of former workers of the Flandria cotton plant, continues playing nowadays, in spite of the shutdown of the factory. The old musicians struggle with passion in the need to maintain an identity, in a present where the social values seem to have to disappear. The old workers-musicians, receive "Our Lady of Luján" playing "Oh, María", remembering the early days of the town, of the factory, and of their own lives. They recall an idealistic past, where a Flandria worker used to receive a salary equal to that of a bank manager. They visit the closed factory -once source for employment for thousands of workers- with the knowledge that the country that they helped to build no longer exists. The old musicians gather to enjoy their friendship in the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the band, while they fight against the ghosts of the economical crisis and social disintegration.
