S3.E4 ∙ In the Talons of the Big Bird - No Joystick Allowed

Film/documentation of a guerrilla performance that explores the gilded apology and sufficiency of monuments. ON 06 May 2013, Stephen Chen collides the angel sculpture in Frankfurt, Germany that memorializes the persecution of homosexual men and women under the Third Reich with Marlene Dietrich (who rose to fame in the film 'Blue Angel', a gay and lesbian icon, and staunch detractor of the Nazi regime) by performing her signature song 12 times at random intervals at the memorial, one for each year of the Third Reich.

For many generations, the Battle of Verdun, from February 21 to December 18, 1916, remains the symbol of WWI, the terrible place where France and Germany clashed. All the soldiers kept the reflections of these days of terror in their eyes.

'Beyond Borders: Personal Stories from a Small Planet' is a creative burst of defiance and hope by youth around the globe who are overcoming the huge obstacles that have defined their lives. It's an inspiring compilation of 9 short films written, shot and edited by teenagers who weave documentary filmmaking, animation and archival footage to tell personal stories on what they most fear and how they build security in their lives.

The war against locusts is as old as human civilization. Its one of the universal stories we tell of our creation, laying deep within us. But where does the individual fit into this drama? And raising the questions, do we live outside or inside nature, and who is hunting who ?

Marine Sergeant Richard Massimino returned home from Iraq damaged-his back was a mess, he had acute asthma from his days in the desert, and he suffered from severe post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. He had changed dramatically, and to his wife and children he was a different person. Richard and Natasha's lives were flipped upside down and their marriage was forever changed. Now, not only is she a wife and a mother of three, but she's also a caretaker. Despite the daily struggles, she's determined to help her husband work through his issues and to get back the man she fell in love with.
