The Shipibo-Conibo people have lived in the Peruvian Amazon for over 4,000 years, passing on their knowledge of plants and sacred songs from one generation to the next. 'Esas Voces Que Curan (Voices That Heal)' tells the story of a Shipibo shaman and her family, and of their struggle to keep their traditions alive while facing the challenges of the modern world.

There are 120 houses in the village, which are located 2,000 meters above sea level. The men of the village leave for big cities and other countries to earn money, which makes the situation more difficult for women in the village. Women are the only permanent inhabitants. There are neither proper roads nor electricity, and the village has no considerable economic activity.
