Summary Adrian goes to Masham Steam Fair and meets father and son Richard and David Preston who are exhibiting their showman's engine "Lightning II". "Lightning II" was responsible for Richard and his wife Anne getting together fifty years ago and also allowed the family haulage firm Prestons of Potto to be founded when Richard's father used it to haul goods during the fuel shortage of the Suez Crisis in the 1950s. Now Richard and Anne are celebrating their Golden Wedding at Masham Fair. For the first time ever, Anne has a ride on the engine, and she is petrified. "Lightning II" wins the trophy for Best in Show. In Askrigg, Rev Ann Chapman is organising a Parish Party. Previously Ann has held it in the vicarage garden and has organised it. This is the first year that it is being hosted in the garden of a local farmer - and she is worried that there might have been a mix-up about the preparation of the barbecue food. Following the death of her black labrador Chloe, Ann gets two new dogs, spaniels Megan and Molly. At Raven Seat, the Owen family are going away on holiday - camping in one of their own fields!
