CHARLOTTE is a film about an extraordinary boatyard, the Gannon & Benjamin Marine Railway, located on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Mass. Ross Gannon and Nat Benjamin established the boatyard in 1980 with the purpose of designing, building, restoring, and maintaining traditionally built wooden sailing boats. Now, after more than 30 years of designing and producing boats for others, Nat embarks on building a 50 foot gaff rigged schooner for use by his family and friends --- her name is Charlotte. Through its careful portrayal of the everyday activities in and around the boatyard, the film emerges as a meditation on craftsmanship, tradition, family, community, and the love of the sea.

This documentation has been accompanying the development of the stage play The Snow queen for 9 months. It pursues the destinies of the director, the stage builder, the musicians, of the workshops and the actors. Thereby the viewer witnesses all the doubts and disappointments you never would have guessed behind the artists radiant stage smile. In remarkable openness the artists talk about the pressure to perform, superstition and their dreams. Who knows the perfection of the theater will be surprised at the creative chaos the plays arise out of and at the grandiose ideas which turn out to be disappointments making everybodys nerves raw. The theater shows itself behind the scenes and the hidden facets of its world.

There's a funeral in Sapmi. The dead is the father of John-Andreas 17. He now remembers what his father told him shortly before his death. Will John-Andreas manage to take over? It's tough to continue, when reindeer's keep disappearing.
