Through a corrosive and freedom murderous press, poets and writers opposed the courageous and idealistic project of Francisco I. Madero. This opposition had fatal consequences for the incipient Mexican democracy. After the murder of Madero, the Revolution bloodied the country and expelled poets and intellectuals and those who decided not to escape, were condemned to live in solitude the hardships of war, but even in those long years of confusion, Mexican writers managed to create memorable works.
