Summary Beginning of the journey in Recife: Jérôme meets Gabi Carvalho, a professional dancer of "frévo" and she shows him how to dance "frévo". Then they walk through the historical center of Recife and see the first synagogue of the Americas (built in the 17th century by Jewish Dutch colonizers).They notice the street jobs (a barber and a knife sharpener) and arrive at the market where they taste a "bolo de rolo", pastry made with crepes and guava paste.Later they meet Sophie Foray, a French poetess and educator who declaims a poem from the book "Cordel para Recife".On the next day Gabi and Jérôme are in Olinda: from a terrace they can see the beaches of Olinda and Recife.On the street they see giant puppets and pay a visit to Silvio Bothelho, the puppet maker for the Carnival of Olinda ( he has made about 1600 giant puppets which are used in the carnival , but also in weddings and burials).Later Jérôme meets the dance company of Gabi and in the street Gabi, Jérôme and the dancers dance "frévo".After that Jérôme travels to Porto de Galinhas where he meets Savio Renato Aciolo, a shipwright who is making the "jangadas", rafts with a mast: there are still 150 "jangadas" in the town now used for the boat tours of the tourists.Then Jérôme and Savio take a raft and go snorkeling in the sea. After that Jérôme is on a boat on the River Preguiças with the captain Pedro Pereira: they see the tropical forests along the river and then suddenly dunes.They arrive at Atins: Pierre Bident Moldeva receives Jérôme and they go to the "Ferme de Georges", a farm, also a guesthouse (wooden chalets): Pierre shows him the organic farm where he produces fresh vegetables for his restaurant.On the next day Pierre and Jérôme go to the dunes of the "Lençois" National Park ( 1500 square kilometers) : they have a horseback riding in the dunes (a mixture of local sand and sand coming from the Sahara: they see nice lagoons among the dunes and meet Spanish tourists who practice wind surfing in the lagoons: later they walk to a hamlet of 4 houses where they meet Izaquiel Lira, who is guide in the park: they see the well and the solar panel and meet Dona Regina, the grandmother of Izaquiel who cooks meals for the tourists.The three men go to a lagoon and catch some fishes: in the night they eat grilled fishes and later sleep in hammocks. After that Jérôme goes back to the Preguiças river where he meets Dona Conça and her husband Nonato: they take a canoe and Notato climbs the "açai" palm tree to harvest the fruits: later Dona Conça makes a puree with the "açai" fruits, she adds cassava flour and they taste the meal with grilled fish. Besides we see zooms about the beaches of the Brazilian Northeast (the "altinha", a collective keepie and uppie game, Martinha , the food seller who sells fritters of beans, prawns , onions and ginger in the beaches of Salvador de Bahia, Gustavo and Lucas who are fishing with their paddle boards), about the Afro-brazilian identity (the capoeira angola dance , the Black Awareness day and the story of Zumbi dos Palmares), about the cuisine in Salvador de Bahia (the food tours with Kali, the acarajé - fritter of beans and white onions-, the cachaça, spirit used also in cooking to flame prawns with peppers and the famous "moqueca" of Suzanna Almeida), about the nature reserve of the "Linha Verde" (the biologist Luciana and her colleague Cosme showing the birds of the reserve and the biologist Denise Santos de Mora who takes care for the sea turtles with the fisherman Antonio), about the National Park of the "Chapada Diamantina" (Delmar and Silvano telling the story of the diamonds seekers, the new life of the ghost town of Lençois with touristic activities, Roy Funch and Juliana who are visiting a monumental cave) and about the yoga in the "Chapada Diamantina) and the trek in the valley of Pati with the guide Vinicius).
