Summary Beginning of the journey in Cuzco: Jérôme meets Ricardo Reategui, a touristic guide. Cuzco is at 3.400 meters above sea level: Ricardo tells that the Inca empire lasted from the 12th to the 15th century.In the town they can see the walls build by the Incas, there is is a stone with 12 angles.They go to the White Christ and have a nice sight over the Cuzco. Later they go to the San Pedro Market whose framework has been build by Gustave Eiffel.To fight against the altitude sickness the Peruvian people use to chew coca leaves: so they buy some cocoa leaves .In the market Jérôme buys a chocolate with salt of Maras.By car they travel to Maras: there are about 3.000 salt evaporation pounds; the river comes from a hot source and crosses salty soils.Then people as Gladys Paucar Morales are harvesting the salt from the evaporation pounds.Next excursion: Ricardo and Jérôme take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes: they walk on the historic trail to Machu Picchu (Unesco World Heritage site which was discovered in 1874).They enjoy this great site, house of the knowledge of the Incas.Later Jérôme is in Lima discovering the town by paragliding; later he meets Carolina Uechi Kohatsu who tells him the story of Lima founded in 1535.They visit the center of the town: Plaza Mayor, the colonial architecture of the buildings, they travel by bus to the Mercado No 1: at the shop of Mariella they buy langoustines, at the "Rinconcito of Alex" they eat a ceviche (fishes and seafood prepared with lemon juice and a touch of chili).Later they go to Carolina's restaurant in the district of Surco,they prepare pork, langoustines in teriyaki sauce and they enjoy the nightlife in the Barranco neighborhood drinking a pisco sour.Then Jérôme travels to Llachón, at the Titicaca lake: there Felix Turpo Coila and his wife Magna manages a guesthouse:they drink a infusion of "muña" (Andean mint) with coca leaves: Felix and Jérôme make a kayak trip on the lake.Back to home they meets Magna, Felix wife who is weaving bags.For the supper Jérôme helps Magna to prepare the vegetables soup with semolina.On the morning Feliz presents to Jérôme his 94 years old mother who is working every day on her parcel.Later some Andean musician have come, and play traditional Andean music : Felix dances with Magna and Jérôme wearing a typical Andean clothing, dances with the daughter of the couple. Besides we can see some zooms about the alpaca breeding and the alpaca wool, about Pilar Pedraza Armenteras , a photographer who teaches photography in the impoverished neighborhoods of Lima and Gretell Lucia Delgado Salinas who encourages the the children to learn acrobatics.We travel also to the Pacific Ocean , we follow Juan Aguilar , a fisherman of Pucusana and also Denisse Sotomayor, a marine photographer who knows a lot about sea lions.We discover also the floating islands of the Titicaca Lake made with reeds and Antono Porcela who harvests the eggs of the duck between the reeds.
