Summary We see a great diversity of landscapes and activities: tourism, religious celebration, cockfight, music and volcanoes. About tourism: the place of El Nido on Palawan island: meeting with Gordon McLaughlin , a guide who explores the islands of this area; islands with cliffs and sand beaches.We meet also two young men who are climbing mountains and exploring caves to find swallow nests (a precious food). In Cebu-City there is the Sinulog festival: everywhere the images of the holy child Jesus, then a carnival: Jose Marie , a choreographer explains the preparation of this carnival (30 musicians and 60 dancers). In Manila the cockfight is a important business and show: cock breeders as Tonio Romulo and Gary Tesorero are selecting and preparing the cocks:We visit the Araneta Coliseum where there is a cockfight championship. Music in the Philippines: the Filipinos enjoy singing and they go o karaoke bars, then the Spanish influence: Fernando Alegre , a famous stringed-instrument maker shows the guitars that he is producing and we listen to rock music (the influence of USA). We visit the Taal lake and specially the Volcano Island where a volcanologist is observing the volcano: on the slopes of the volcano good plantations of cassava because the soil is very fertile. Now some words about the journey of Raphaël: begging of the journey in Cebu-City: meeting in the market with Aldo Mariano : they see fruits (the famous durian), banana flowers and then fishes and prawns..Later Raphaël meets Gadie Barro-Baccali, a diving instructor: together they go to the Bohol Island and see the Philippines tarsier., one of the smallest primates in the worlds, they observe the Chocolate hills and make a ride on suspended bicycles.On the next they dive among a shoal of sardines. Then Raphaël goes to Manila where he meets Miraquesa Camat , an event organizer (who has been Miss Manila in her youth), the visit the Intra-Muros neighborhood, historical monuments such as the Cathedral of Manila and at the end of the day they go Manila Bay where families and also bikers are enjoying the sunset. Later Raphaël meets Arlyne Fernandez who is working with the Virlanie association for the streets children: they visit a shelter of 13-18 yeas old girls and later they listen to the Choir of Virlanie. Then the last stop in Banaue where Raphaël meets Samuel and Zélie (his French wife) and they make an excursion to the Batad rice terraces (Unesco world heritage site) : first in a jeepney and later walking in the mountains.
