Summary Beginning of the journey at Whitehorse (Yukon): Jérôme has arrived by plane at the airport of Whitehorse and he meets Émylie T.M. (author of the blog "La Yukonnaise"): they go to shop and Jérôme buys clothes, boots for the cold temperatures.Then they go to Green Mountain where they have a walk with snow shoes and they enjoy the sight over Whitehorse and the Yukon River.Later they walk through the town speaking about the French Canadians who live in Whitehorse (about 10 % of the 30.000 inhabitants of Whitehorse. They see the statue of a gold prospector with his dog and the SS.Klondike, a historical boat transformed now in a museum.They go outside the the town and meet Mark Penner, the kite skier: they have a funny moment gliding on the snow.ÑLater they they meet Nicolas at his radio studio: Jérôme speaks about his first experiences in Yukon ( the great spaces, the snow shoes walk and the kite gliding.After that Jérôme travels to the Yukon Wildlife preserve: Jake Paleczny shows the American bison, the musk oxen, the reindeer, the Canadian lynx, the Arctic fox (with its white coat in winter and a black coat in the summer), and the moose: the veterinarian Maria Hallock explains him that the moose is an unpredictable animal.Then Jérôme go to the Takhini Hot Springs where is received by Andrew Umbrich and takes a bath in the hot waters of the springs.After that Jérôme meets Simon D'Amours (presenter of the program "Au coeur du Yukon" and they travel to meet the trapper Roch Boivin: they travel by snow scooter to the forest cabin of the trapper: they meet Catherine, Roch's wife and talk about the life in the forest (the correspondence school of the children, the freedom in the great spaces): at supper they eat moose meat, potatoes and some cake. Later Simon and Jérôme travel by car (Klondike Highway) to Dawson City: the town of the gold rush: they enjoy the old and new buildings of the town and have a drink at the Jack London Grill. After that Jérôme meets Gérard Cruchon , the ranger of the Tombstone Park , they travel by car crossing the bridge over the Klondike River and arrive at Bensen Creek: Gérard manages there 2 chalets and a sauna for visitors: they eat a fondue (made with Comté cheese) and drink white wine.On the morning they take the snow scooters and make a stop on the frozen Klondike river, They prepare a fire and install the camping tents.Later they have a walk with snow shoes and enjoy the wild landscape, back to the camp they enjoy the fire and eat sausages. Besides we see zooms about the children having playtime in the snow, about the life in winter at the Great Slave Lake, about the ice fishing, about about Thomas Verin and Christelle Houdry and their husky sled dogs, about the ice roads in winter, about the acrobatic skiing, about the ski mountaineering in Yukon, about the the furs trade, the trapper Jacques Jobin and the seamstress Hovak Johnston, about the ice castle and the ice peak climbing,and about the northern lights (aurora borealis) and Keating Smith , the northern lights chaser.
