Summary Jérôme arrives at Macatoo Camp by airplane: his guide Bongwe Makate carries him to the lodge managed by John Sobey (African Horseback Safaris): Jérôme will sleep in a house tree (his bed is covered with a mosquito net).On the morning Jérôme , John and Bongwe ride through the bush and see a lot of zebras and giraffes: they stop looking at a baobab tree (Bongwe tells the legend of the baobab: God asked to each animal of the bush to present him a plant: all the animal choose a plant, but the hyena was occupied in looking for preys: God gives to the hyena a baobab tree: the hyena got angry and threw the tree with the head in in the soil; so the baobab tree seems to have roots instead of branches) and the see also buffaloes.On the next day Jérôme travel by airplane to Maun, the big village with 60.000 inhabitants (because there are many animals in the streets).He meets there Germain Marquis, a French cook who has opened a restaurant and is also training young cooks: they go with Omogolo Gotshajwang, an apprentice to a great farm: there are glass houses and the apprentice must recognize some flowers and vegetables used in cooking (carnation, purple beans, rocket), later the apprentice prepare a traditional Botswanian dish with beef, oil, salt and vegetables.Later Jérôme meets Johnny Ramsden , a safari operator who invites Jérôme to an excursion with girl scouts and boy scouts at the Moremi Game Reserve: near the road they can see lions ; they install their camping tents and on the morning they can see impalas, buffaloes and and zebras and a leopard going down a tree and walking quietly through the bush.: they go on canoes on a river and they see hippopotamus (very unpredictable animals).After the excursion Jérôme goes to an Hambukushu village where he buys wickerwork.Later Jérôme travels with Bastien Rossato to the Selinda Game Reserve: there David Murray, a photographer shows him his collection of photographs on the computer.Jérôme will sleep in a wooden cabin: at sunrise they go with the ranger Mots to a water point where they can take pictures of hippopotamus, buffaloes and zebras. We can also see many aspects of Botswana;; the Okanvango delta, the importance of the rain (pula which signifies also peace and which brings happiness to the people of Botswana), the ban on hunting in 2014 and the will to protect the wildlife: the rhinoceros are a endangered species and the park rangers must protect them from the poachers.We learn also about elephants: a British zoologist Jess Isden and her assistant are investigating the life of the elephants. There is also reporting about Gaborone, the capital of the country: we meet Gaone Mathibi, a fashion designer who gives a new touch to the traditional dresses and blankets and later the Skinflint Heavy Metal Rock band (Giuseppe Sbrana,Kebonye Knolojo and and Alessandra Sbrana: their music is inspired by the stories and legends of Botswana and they enjoy to play for their audience (rockers, bikers and cowboys). We see also the life of a remote village; the chief of the village and the meeting of the village council to solve cases of local justice (thefts, quarrels between neighbors or reconciliations between husband and wife) and in another part of Botswana a traditional wedding: the broom has brought the dowry to the family of the bride (4 cows and 4 calves), the uncle and the aunt of the bride receive the them and give their agreement to the wedding: the bride appears with the traditional blanket.
