Summary Beginning of the journey in Batticaloa on the eastern coast of Sri Lanka: Sophie meets Sandrine Debruyne who is promoting home stays in this region: they visit the seaside, Sophie plays cricket, then Sophie and Sandrine travels with an auto rickshaw (tuktuk) meeting fishermen and buying tuna.They go to the house of Aisha and eat a delicious dish with tuna, prepared with curry and coconut milk.Later they visit Cotton park where local women are weaving sari and sarong and they go to the homestay of Dilu, they eat there fried fishes, eggplants, potatoes with curry sauces: tourists of Australia, France, England and Thailand have stayed in this homestay and enjoyed the friendliness with Dilu and her family.Later Sophie and Sandrine travel on a public bus to the railway station, they have interesting talks with the passengers about tolerance: then Sophie takes the train to Jaffna where she meets Gaya Chandra: a law student who tells her that they are enjoying these moments of peace after the Sri Lankan civil war: they visit the Temple of Murugan, speak about the Hinduist religion and later they go to Gaya's house, where Sophie knows the mother and the sisters: Sophie wears the traditional sari, they drinking tea and speak about the marriage in the Tamil community.Then Sophie travels to the Peninsula of Kalpitiya: she meets there Dilsiri Welikala and Léo Moret : the promoters of the Kite-Surfing Center : a place with 20 bungalows: Sophie goes to a school for very young children of the local fishermen: the King-Surfing Center has helped this school with many donations.Later Sophie , helped by Michi Walter learns kite-surfing. Besides we see zooms about the fishermen of Negombo with their traditional catamaran fishing boats, about the recovery of the peace in Sri Lanka (five trains are leaving Colombo to Jffna every day, Getak the onion producer is now sending his onions to other parts of Sri Lanka, Asanka Warna Kumara, a touristic agent is investigating about tours in the northern parts of the island), about Delft, an island of fishermen and women who produce wickerwork and has a treasure: wild horses, about Nuwara Eliya, the corner of England with its golf course, his hippodrome (now Sinhalese jockeys may return to their country and have interesting incomes) and the famous Hill Club, created in 1876 which has opened his doors to women and Sinhalese people in 1967, about the coconut tree and its different uses for coconut water, coconut pulp and milk and also for coconut fibers (ropes and filling of cushions, about the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya (a wonderful place with about 4.000 plants-among them 75 endemic orchids) and the citadel of Sigiriya with its beautiful gardens.
