Summary Known for its salmon and beautiful scenery, Telegraph Cove also has another tourist attraction to its name. The cove is well known for its Orca whales which are constantly traveling through the area. Jim and Maureen Borrowman take John on a whale watching tour with their old wooden boat. Later, John meets up with Dr. Paul Spong and learns a little about the orca research center set up on Hanson Island. Dr. Spong researches behavioral patterns of the orca whales and explains the problems facing the whales today. Jim Hope, of the Nature Trust of BC, introduces us to the property the trust has purchased in or to preserve the ecosystems and protect the whales.
