This program documents the migration of rural Southern blacks from the segregated South to Chicago. Cultural and political gains become offset by overcrowding and increasing ghettoization, as Northern politicians ignore resentment that explodes in the Sixties. Finally, Chicago gets its first African-American mayor; many families move out of the ghetto to middle-class success; many others remain mired in a growing "underclass". Includes historical footage and personal interviews. The program has three parts: (1) Take me to Chicago; (2) A dream deferred; (3) Strong men keep a-comin' on.

In the four-part documentary series Staal, we follow steel plant Tata Steel and its neighbors in changing times. After a century of steel production in the dunes of Wijk aan Zee, IJmond residents are diametrically opposed. For many IJmonders, the factory is their life and their bread. They see the smoking colossus in the dunes as a natural part of the landscape. Other, often new, residents are deeply concerned about their health. Plans to go green may come too late. Because patience is running out and protests by local residents against Tata Steel are growing. Steel is about today's big question: how do you live together, when interests are so divergent?

In this weekly documentary series, popular journalist Paul Jambers, after whom it is named, presented, largely off-screen, in his particular style and languorous voice short reports. The subjects were rarely about the news but rather human interest, often about people at the edge of society, such as sexual minorities, who are filmed in their unusual activities and interviewed about them by Jambers.
