A family who emigrated to Germany, escaping from Nicolae Ceausescu's dictatorship in Romania, recalls a world without opportunities or hope for the future, of ever-present fear and a constant struggle for survival. They look back on what made them exchange their home for the promise of freedom in an uncertain future.

The Pittsburg Mallards are a Pop Warner Football team from Northern California. The time is 1963. They are undefeated and unscored upon and they accept a challenge from the east coast to play the undefeated Mayfair Athletic Club from Philadelphia. On the way to the game they are scheduled to meet President Kennedy at the White House. However, on November 22nd, 1963 President Kennedy is assassinated. The nation is in in shock however the team agrees to go on with the game and dedicate their effort to the late President. The team is flown to Washington DC where they attend the funeral of President Kennedy. Four days later in Philadelphia they complete their undefeated season and win the National Championship. They return to their small, blue collar town as heroes.

During the 1990s, Croatia suffered systematic violation and destruction of its anti-fascist monuments. By combining the images of these impressive works of abstract sculpture with the potent nature surrounding them, Monument creates a visual metaphor to reflect on their purpose nowadays.
